A wig you wear occasionally and a wig you wear every day are different purchases. The everyday one has to survive a commute, go on in the time you actually have in the morning, and still look right at four in the afternoon. That rules out a lot of what photographs well.
The five things an everyday unit needs
- A fast install. If it takes forty minutes you will not do it on a Tuesday. Glueless caps and closures go on in five to fifteen minutes.
- Secure fit without adhesive. Daily glue on the same strip of hairline is what causes traction damage. A cap that holds on its own avoids the question.
- A length that clears your collar. Anything past mid-chest catches in coats, seatbelts and bag straps, and the nape mats within weeks.
- Enough density to read as real without being so much hair that it is hot and heavy by lunchtime. 180% is the everyday sweet spot.
- A texture you can revive in two minutes rather than restyle from scratch.
Best cap type for daily wear
Glueless, in almost every case. A wear-and-go unit with an elastic band, combs and adjustable straps gives you a secure fit with nothing on your skin, which matters far more when it is happening five days a week than when it is happening once. What a glueless wig actually is covers the construction, and glueless versus glue compares hold and damage directly.
Zuri is our deep wave wear-and-go unit and Nia the curly bob version — the whole glueless collection is built for this use.
A closure is the next best thing. Less lace to blend than a frontal, faster to put on, and more durable because there is simply less lace to tear. Closure versus frontal works through the trade-off.
Best lengths
| Length | Everyday verdict |
|---|---|
| 8–12" bob | The lowest-maintenance option there is. Nothing to tangle at the nape. |
| 14–16" | Collarbone. Long enough to feel like hair, short enough to stay out of coats. |
| 18–20" | Workable, but plait it at night and lift it off wool collars. |
| 22"+ | Not an everyday length unless you are prepared to maintain it. |
Bobs genuinely are the easiest daily wear — Cleo in straight, Tiana if you want to go shorter still, and the full bob collection for the range. The bob length guide shows where each cut line falls.
Best textures
Low-maintenance means a texture that recovers rather than one that needs restyling:
- Body wave — the most forgiving. A loose pattern hides a multitude of bad mornings. Aria is the straightforward version; Layla adds a layered butterfly cut that keeps its shape with almost no effort.
- Straight — least tangling of anything, but it shows a bad install most clearly. The straight collection covers it.
- Deep and water wave — excellent at hiding wear, but the nape needs attention. Amara is the 13x6 water wave unit.
- Tight curls — beautiful, but the most daily work. Not the place to start.
The texture guide covers how each one behaves over a month rather than in a photograph.
Colour for daily wear
Natural black and dark brown are the lowest effort, because there is no toning and no fade to manage. Highlights sit in the middle — Ruby is a honey blonde highlight on a dark base, which grows out of nothing and needs no upkeep beyond ordinary washing. Full blonde is the highest maintenance of all, as the 613 guide explains. The colour collection covers the range.
Rotate two units
The single most effective thing a daily wearer can do. Two units worn alternately last more than twice as long as one worn continuously, because each gets a day to recover its shape and neither spends every waking hour against a collar. It also means you are never without hair while one is drying.
The daily routine that keeps one alive
- Comb it out at the end of the day, damp, from the ends up — see the detangling guide.
- Satin bonnet at night, or a satin pillowcase at minimum.
- Wash every eight to ten wears, not weekly.
- Leave-in conditioner through the mid-lengths and ends.
- Store it on a stand, not folded in a drawer.
