Wig Size & Density Guide

Measuring your head

You need one number: circumference. Run a soft tape measure around your head — starting at the front hairline, around above the ear, across the nape, above the other ear, back to the start. Keep the tape snug against the scalp with your own hair flat.

Cap size Circumference Fits
Small 20.5" – 21.5" ~15% of wearers
Average 21.5" – 22.5" ~80% of wearers
Large 22.5" – 23.5" ~5% of wearers

Every Jenluxhair cap is average with adjustable straps, giving a working range of roughly 21" to 23". If you measure outside that, contact us before ordering.

Length, and shrinkage

Length is measured with the hair pulled straight, from the top of the cap. A textured unit will wear shorter than its label — this is normal and physical, not mislabelling.

Texture Shrinkage A 22" wears like
Straight none 22"
Body wave ~1" 21"
Loose deep wave ~1.5" 20.5"
Deep wave ~2" 20"
Water wave ~2" 20"
Kinky curly ~4–5" 17–18"

Where lengths land on an average frame: 14" at the collarbone, 18" mid-chest, 22" below the bust, 26" at the waist, 28"+ past the waist.

Density

Density is how much hair is on the cap, expressed as a percentage of a full natural head.

Density Looks like Use it for
130% Light, noticeably fine Rarely worth it — looks sparse
150% Natural, everyday Fine features, natural looks, short-to-mid lengths
180% Full — the default Most buyers, most lengths. Start here
200% Maximum volume Bobs, 26"+ lengths, all bleached and coloured units

Three rules that save returns:

  1. Short means dense. A bob under 180% looks thin, because there is no length creating the illusion of volume.
  2. Long means dense. Past 24", lower densities thin out at the ends and the unit looks straggly.
  3. Bleached means dense. Lifted hair reads thinner than natural hair at identical density. 613 and highlight units should be 180% minimum.
